I have been tempted by writing a story (“A Tenerife story” opposed to “A Montenovo story”) about my short vacation in Tenerife. It has been so rushed. I have decided to go in a few hours without considering where nor with whom. Well, Rossella and her gang were not too bad, but the main problems came out from Silvia.
Generally speaking, I could say I enjoyed my staying (even though I considered it just an appetizer of a “big Tour” I probably won’t ever be able to do). I needed that vacation (any vacation) with all my body and spirit and I could say I feel much better now. I spent just 970$ (all included) and could afford something more. We rent two cars and we toured all around Tenerife.
Four of us had never taken a flight. Especially Silvia was completely frightened. She lived the flight as a really scaring sacrifice, but after the back flight she said she would like to experience it again. Silvia and I stayed at Hotel Vulcano (4 stars) in Playa de las Americas, Rossella, Gabriele, Martina e Agostina in a time sharing location in Callao Salvaje.
The first day we realized we lived 8.7 miles each far away from the others and we lost the first morning in renting two cars. On the contrary, we couldn’t have met so often and couldn’t do so many tours. In fact in the afternoon we left for Puerto Santiago where we enjoyed a marvellous black lavic sand and bathed in the Ocean. In addition we contemplated the Acantilados de los Gigantes (“the Giants’ causeways”). Petrol was very cheap compared to Italian prices and my car (a Peugeot 106) consumed very little. I must confess I drove very badly all the time, but although we bought an isle map nobody helped me. In the evening we walked all along the Rambla where we saw a lot of pubs and discos. There were so many English guys, but also Germans, French and Italians. I could never imagine so many Italians had settled to live in Tenerife for business.
The day after we went to the capital of the Isle : Santa Cruz. By the way we saw the Candelaria cathedral (the greatest of the Isle, dedicated to the Virgin). We had lunch at Santa Cruz and then reached Playa de las Teresitas which is one of the most popular beaches down there.
We were so tired that we decided to spend a day in swimming pool and we sun tanned at the timesharing location where our friends stayed. Rossella and Agostina met two guys who work as times sharing sellers. I heard all the advertisement, but knew everything thanks to you. I even said I have a friend who works in the same sector. We went to a disco in the night (“Metropolis”), but I must say I am a bit fed with that kind of things.
We had planned to go to Pico del Teide (the volcano of the Isle), but they spent all the night in disco so they woke up very lately. Result : a big quarrel with Silvia (she seems to be seriously in need of a psychiatric treatment). We were forced to go to Pico del Teide and really we enjoyed that extraterrestrial scenario. We had dinner at their flat.
We had a calmer day at Costa del Silencio the day after and in the night we went to a strange Medieval Party at Castillo San Miguel. (I detest this kind of touristic false things).
The last day was one of the best : we left for Garachico to visit a castle and to Icod de los Vinos, where we saw the fantastic millenary tree (which is the symbol of the Isle of Tenerife) and we reached Puerto de la Cruz in the late afternoon. We visited Loro Parque an incredible zoo. I enjoyed a lot the dolphins show. Then we went to Lago Martianez an amazing set of swimming pools. Coming back we lost ourselves and had to go through incredible mountains : exciting.
Back flight.
I enjoyed people speaking Spanish and thought I could learn it. I watched TV and understood a lot. There was a program completely identical to an Italian one.
